Soft Plastic Recycling
The Tread Lightly Soft Plastics programme supports schools in Auckland to undertake soft plastics recycling and to increase the awareness of soft plastics with students, schools and families.
Through the programme, schools receive a launch programme, educational material, a collection service for their collected soft plastics and support from the Tread Lightly team.
The Tread Lightly Soft Plastics programme for schools is currently on hold with the suspension of the national soft plastics collection and recycling programme.
'Just want to share that this soft plastics recycling was fantastic!!! Our school has not been so clean and all classes are doing a great job!!!'
The Tread Lightly Soft Plastics programme is launched in participating schools with a 15 minute assembly presentation. The performance includes characters “Ann-other Plastic Bag, Chip Packet and Tane the Turtle and tells the story of soft plastics that are discarded as litter, instead of being valued and placed in the soft plastics bin to be recycled.
A soft plastics classroom kit for every class in participating schools (which schools get to keep) - consisting of a small bin to collect soft plastics, classroom poster and a flyer for every student to take home explaining soft plastics recycling
Soft Plastics Recycling Bin
A large soft plastics bin (as seen in participating supermarkets) is provided to schools either on a lease basis for a term, or bought outright.
A collection service by the Abilities Group for the soft plastics collected at participating schools
