financial support
We would love additional financial support! We have enough funds to complete the trailer shell and some of the exhibits. We are still actively seeking funding for the awnings, gazebo, the solar heating and rainwater collection system, and some of the exhibits. Please contact us if your organisation is interested in supporting this community initiative to inspire New Zealanders to live more sustainably.
To date, we have received generous funding from:
-
Ministry for the Environment (Sustainable Management Fund)
- Auckland City Council (Community Events Team)
- Perry Foundation
- Lion Foundation
- Lotteries Comission
- Digital Community Fund.
The Ministry for the Environment was the first organization to provide funding for our project. In January 2008, just after we were officially registered as a Charitable Trust, we applied for support from the Sustainable Management Fund managed by MfE. We were thrilled to be successful with this application. Beginning July 2008, we received project funding for administrative costs, salaries and sub-consultants. Around the same time we received some additional seed funding from Auckland City Council (ACC) Community Events team. This initial MfE and ACC funding allowed us to start the concept designs for the trailer and exhibits. We are still using, and very much appreciating, the MfE funds to assist with ongoing project development.
During the first six months of 2009, we have been successful with a number of "contestible" funding applications. Perry Foundation generously provided funds to build our trailer shell. Lion Foundation supplied money for our signage and to build our cabinetry inside the trailer. Lotteries Commission awarded us additional funds to spend on critical items such as lining our trailer shell and making sure it is roadworthy.
Digital Community Fund (Department of Internal Affairs) is financing the development of some of our “high tech” digital exhibits – the Environmental Footprint and the Drive to Survive.
Deloitte New Zealand is generously providing pro-bono auditing services. This process has proved invaluable to ensure that the financial records and governance processes for our relatively new charitable trust are best practice and fully in order.
We now have some great concept design/visuals and have just begun approaching the private sector for sponsorship support. From initial feedback, our project is potentially of high value to companies seeking to demonstrate their commitment to New Zealand’s future. We hope to confirm a principal sponsor and also some exhibit sponsors, in the near future. Watch this space!
